Pausing Is Not Quitting: What Silence Taught Me

There was a time when I believed that if I stopped, I failed.

If I wasn’t producing, publishing, or pushing forward, I felt like I was losing ground. Silence felt dangerous, like abandonment of the dream.

But life taught me otherwise.

Silence became a teacher.

I learned that pausing doesn’t erase progress; it protects it. Growth doesn’t always look like motion. Sometimes it seems like stillness, discernment, and tending to what’s right in front of you.

There were seasons where my energy was needed elsewhere: my children, my home, my heart, my future. And stepping back didn’t mean the story was gone. It meant it was waiting.

We live in a world that glorifies constant movement. But some of the most meaningful work happens in the quiet where clarity forms and intention sharpens.

If you’re in a season of pause, let this be your permission slip:

You are not behind.

You are not broken.

You are not done.

You’re preparing.
