Finishing Matters More Than Speed

We’re taught to measure success by speed.

How fast did you finish?

How quickly did you move on?

How efficiently did you produce?

But my life and my writing taught me a different truth: finishing matters more than speed.

It took me decades to complete my book. Not because I lacked discipline, but because life required depth. Each pause added understanding. Each return added truth.

Finishing isn’t about urgency. It’s about faithfulness to the vision, to the calling, to yourself.

Some things cannot be rushed without losing their meaning.

If you’re still working on something you started long ago, don’t be ashamed of the timeline. Honor the endurance it took to keep going.

Slow doesn’t mean weak.

Long doesn’t mean lost.

Finished means faithful.
